Life Inside

Karl's Collected Cookbook

Karl enjoys good food, something that is completely absent from his life now, and used to enjoy cooking for his friends in the days he was free.

On Death Row Karl has collected recipes to remind himself of the good meals enjoyed by others beyond his cell walls. Many of these are his personal favourites, which he has supplemented with recipes his friends from around the world have mailed to him over the years.

His friend Martine from France undertook to gather together a collection of his recipes and distribute them to his friends across the globe. Here we have featured some of the recipes Martine sent on.

Karl Chamberlain on Texas Death Row

"Karl likes eating good things like most of us but he likes cooking as well. When he was free, he loved inviting friends around his table for a dinner cooked by him. I have been his friend for almost seven years and I can only but easily imagine what was a dinner cooked by my friend and all the warmth and joy there were in his home those days."
